I always worried about putting her in the cargo hold, because she's fairly skittish and she could cause herself so much distress it would actually be harmful. That's exactly what happened to Simon the rabbit on a flight leaving the UK. Simon had a completely clean bill of health before getting on the plane, but by the time the plane landed Simon was found dead. He's not the only animal to meet this cruel fate. At least 300 pets have died in aircraft cargo holds, and countless others have been injured or sick — or even lost! Pet owners shouldn't have to risk their companions' lives when traveling. JetBlue and Southwest have made it easier for animals to travel in the main cabin, and it's time for other airlines to follow suit. You can help keep pets safe during flights.
