Dear, |
In a monumental win that could spare thousands of monkeys from mutilation and death in pointless experiments and change the course of research, the Oregon Health & Science University’s board of directors passed a resolution today authorizing negotiations with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to end experiments on monkeys and transition the federally-funded Oregon National Primate Research Center to a sanctuary for the more than 5,000 monkeys it holds! PETA thanks the university president, the board of directors for their decision, and NIH for leading the way. |

This follows intense pressure in recent months by PETA, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, state legislators, and tens of thousands of Oregonians and others—including supporters like you! PETA ramped up pressure in recent months, working ‘round the clock to expose and end the atrocities monkeys endure at the center, including being pumped full of nicotine, electro-ejaculated, addicted to alcohol, and more. Before that, PETA conducted two undercover investigations, held protests, filed and won lawsuits, filed federal complaints, plastered ads and posters on billboards, gas station toppers, bus stands, and much more. |
This monumental resolution would end 60 years of tax-funded torment. |

Read all about it, then please thank the National Institutes of Health, OHSU, and others who responded to our call for compassion. |
|
Thank you for all you do to help living, feeling beings. |
