Bird watchers keep eyes on a lone chestnut-collared longspur in the parking lot of the Fitchburg Municipal Airport Feb. 27. Joan O’Regan of Hudson, Kristen Harris of Marlborough, Christine and Fran Fanning of Billerica, and Betty Gilman of Revere, left to right, all traveled to Fitchburg to spot the rare bird.

The bird hadn't been spotted in Massachusetts in six years, according to state records.
