Please help dogs like Tuesday by joining PETA’s GivingTuesday Challenge. If 4,000 supporters make a gift, we’ll unlock an extra $100,000 for animals—and if you make your gift of $2 or more now, it will count twice towards our goal!

Dear ,

This gentle dog’s owner called him Cane, but I nicknamed him “Tuesday” in honor of the day we met. I’ll never forget. It was bitterly cold, and Tuesday was suffering from a severe case of mange, a skin infection that caused his body to be red and inflamed and left him missing patches of fur—leaving him dangerously exposed to biting winds and bone-chilling temperatures.

Despite his pain, Tuesday couldn’t help but wag his tail excitedly when he spotted our fieldworkers. His whole body wiggled as he reached out a tender paw, desperate for attention and relief.

Cid Marcos, I’m sharing Tuesday’s story with you now because in just two days, we’ll celebrate GivingTuesday, a worldwide day of generosity.

Save a Dog!

Before our fieldworkers arrived, Tuesday’s only “shelter” was a dilapidated plywood box. Thanks to supporters like you, we gave him a sturdy, insulated doghouse filled with fluffy, dry straw to help shield him from winter’s worst. We also convinced his owner to take him to the vet to treat his mange.

Many other “backyard dogs” like Tuesday are still waiting for our help, tied up and penned in barren yards with little stimulation or protection from soaking rain and blinding snow. As winter approaches, these dogs will struggle to stay warm and safe—and some may not survive.

You can choose items to include in your package, such as:

  • $5—Feed a neglected dog for one week.

  • $10—Supply a tangle-free tie out to replace a heavy chain.

  • $30—Provide two dogs with flea and tick prevention.

  • $50—Provide rubber flooring and construction materials for a PETA doghouse.

  • $100—Give a dog lifesaving veterinary care.

  • $265—Sponsor a sturdy new PETA doghouse.

Our team regularly visits Tuesday to provide him with care, food, and lots of love and attention. Each time, his tail wags, and he reaches out his paw—just like on that first Tuesday when we met.

Thank you for your generosity and commitment to animals!

Very truly yours,

Emily Allen
Vice President, Community Animal Project

P.S. GivingTuesday will be here in two days, but neglected and lonely “backyard dogs” need your help now. When you make an early gift today, your generosity will count twice towards our goal, bolstering our work to reach as many animals as possible before the worst of winter arrives.
