Dear, A musher is forcing me to run hundreds of miles on the icy Iditarod trail, and my body is failing. My lungs burn, my legs throb with pain, and I’m so tired—but he makes me keep going. Then suddenly, I’m falling, collapsing onto the snow, unable to move. |
on Sunday, hundreds of dogs—just like this one—will be forced to run for their lives in Alaska’s cruel Iditarod race, and some may not survive. We need 450 kind people—representing the more than 450 dogs abused in this race—to help us end this deadly spectacle by making a gift to PETA today. Will you be one of them? |
ALERT: The Iditarod starts this weekend. Dogs need us NOW. |

This year, mushers will make dogs race across nearly 1,000 miles of treacherous arctic terrain, to the point of injury, illness, and exhaustion... until their paws are split and bleeding... until they get sick and weak... or until their muscles give out. During the 2025 Iditarod race, a four-year-old pregnant dog named Ventana collapsed and died on the trail after a musher forced her to run for more than 300 miles. Dogs have also died on the trail due to heart attacks, asphyxiation, freezing to death, and acute aspiration pneumonia—caused by inhaling their own vomit. |
Please, give right now—before this grueling race kills any more dogs. Even $2 makes a difference. |
When they’re not forcing me to run, my owners keep me chained outside, even on blisteringly cold winter nights and scorching summer days. The other dogs wail constantly in despair. I can’t interact or play with them. I’m so lonely. Dogs in the dog-sledding industry are typically chained starting as puppies and spend most of their lives confined to a patch of ice or dirt. Driven to the brink of insanity by frustration and isolation, they pace in endless circles. In subzero temperatures, they shiver in dilapidated boxes or flimsy plastic barrels—deprived of any relief from the bitter cold, even when they’re old, injured, or in agony. |
PETA has investigated and exposed the abusive dog-sledding industry and convinced almost every major sponsor to cut ties with the Iditarod. Now, we need you by our side as we push sponsors to rethink their future support of a race that runs dogs to their deaths. |
