Dear, He planned to shoot her. At just four months old, the tiny kitten had already been left to fend for herself outdoors—at risk of freezing, starving, or succumbing to disease—when a neighbor threatened to kill her and some other cats roaming nearby. PETA’s Animal Rescue Team rushed to the scene to secure their safety. This team is on call 24/7 to help neglected and abused animals—and it is funded entirely by our compassionate supporters. You are the lifeline so many animals desperately need: |

PETA fieldworkers found Chico tethered in a plastic cage next to a concrete block—sick, starved, and severely neglected. He was skin and bones and couldn’t stop shaking. We rescued Chico from that nightmare, and he’s now thriving with a retired local woman who dotes on him. |

When owners refuse to bring their dogs indoors or surrender them to us—and when the authorities refuse to step in—we do all we can to improve the dogs’ lives. Bella had only a flimsy plastic “shelter” that did nothing to shield her from the harsh elements. Thanks to PETA donors, she received a sturdy doghouse to help protect her from unforgiving outdoor conditions—and we will keep checking on her and advocating for her. |

And then there’s the four-month-old kitten who was in danger of being shot. After the team rescued her, I officially adopted her. I named her Marisol, a nod to the warm, sun-touched colors in her tortoiseshell fur. Today she’s a spirited, vocal little whirlwind, scaling the shower curtain at 3 a.m., unrolling toilet paper with gusto, and greeting me every evening with a full report on everything I missed. Thank you for making this vital work possible—for animals like Chico and Marisol, who’ve found loving homes, and for animals like Bella, who depend on us for care.
