A year since their nightmare began

It has been almost a year since the terrifying events of October 7th.

In those early hours, families living along the Gaza border experienced the unthinkable.

Their homes were set ablaze, their neighbors were murdered, and they spent agonizing hours hiding - unsure if they would survive the next moment.

They endured loss, pain, fire, missiles, and unspeakable violence. They survived—but their lives were shattered.

How can they celebrate on the anniversary of their worst nightmare?

This year has been one of mourning, trauma, and rebuilding in between the rubble of their lives. For so many, the memories of that horrifying day still haunt them.

It has also been a year of courage, unity, and support.

A year of warm meals, comforting embraces, and the generosity of people like you - from around the world - who refuse to let these families face this alone.

We have stood behind these displaced families for a entire year. Now, for the High Holidays, they need us again - and they cannot wait.

The High Holidays, which should be a time of joy and festivity, only remind them of the horror they have been through.

But together, we can offer them something beautiful—the opportunity to focus on family, healing, love, and laughter.

A story of a family from one of the hardest hit towns, Nachal Oz

Rina, a mother of three, recalls October 7th:

"We huddled in the corner of our house, listening to the gunfire outside, praying we would not be next. When we finally escaped, all we had left were the clothes on our backs. It has been a year, and we are still trying to pick up the pieces. But the support we have received from Meir Panim has kept us going. Now, we need help to celebrate the holidays with our children - to remind them of the beauty of life, despite everything."
