Depending on who you ask, he was either the number 1 or number 2 most senior leader for the terrorist organization.  Along with senior leaders from Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Houthis in Yemen, Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration of Iran's new president. A precision-guided airstrike eliminated Haniyeh and his bodyguards this morning. So far, Israel has not taken credit for the elimination. Haniyeh was one of the main architects and masterminds of the October 7th massacre.  Israel DID take credit for the assassination of Fuad Shukr in Beirut on Tuesday. Shukr was the most senior military leader for Hezbollah, and was responsible for the massacre that left 12 Israeli children dead and 30 more injured in the Druze village of Majdal Shams this past weekend.
