Somewhere in the United States right now, a mother dog is spending her entire life on wire flooring in an enclosure barely large enough to turn around. She's bred repeatedly with little veterinary care, no chance to run or feel grass beneath her paws. Right now, this is completely legal. The Puppy Protection Act, H.R. 2253/S. 4437, is our best chance to change that. Humane World for Animals is pushing to make it law, but we need your support to drive meaningful, lasting change. If you haven't already, please add your name in support of the Puppy Protection Act now!
This critical bill was just introduced in the Senate, and now is the time to act. It would require larger enclosures, solid flooring, exercise, socialization, twice-daily feedings and improved veterinary care for dogs in USDA-licensed pet breeding facilities. It would also impose breeding limits and require breeders to make real efforts to rehome retired dogs rather than discard or kill them.
These are the basics every dog deserves, and Congress has the power to make them law. Please urge your U.S. Representatives and Senators to support the Puppy Protection Act today. That mother dog can't speak for herself. But you can. Your signature is a powerful first step. Tell Congress it's time to act.
